received the award and medal of the Iraqi Science Day Competition from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research at the ceremony held today at the University of Baghdad for supervising the second distinguished engineering graduation project at Iraqi public and private universities for the project entitled:
Design and Fabrication of improved below Knee prosthesis
The project aims to design and manufacture a smart, low -cost, low -weight, durable, comfortable, wearing and removal prototype. Manufacturing operations were carried out using local materials at a symbolic cost of no more than 5 % of the value of the imported limbs, and therefore it is suitable for all patients and helps in their rapid integration, practicing their work and exercising normally.
Comprehensive improvement plan for laboratories according to Iraqi standards
Written by عضو ارتباطUnder the patronage of the honorable department head (Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Al-Saraji), the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division in the Biomedical Engineering Department, in cooperation with the Laboratory Accreditation Unit and the Laboratory Division in the Department, held a workshop entitled
(Comprehensive improvement plan for laboratories according to Iraqi standards)
The lecture was given by Professor Dr. Ali Jalal, Professor Dr. Farah Hamed, and M. Ahmed Gamal. The workshop covered the explanation of the improvement plan and the items and paragraphs of the standards related to laboratory quality and fulfillment of laboratory quality standards according to the technical conditions and requirements of laboratories, which vary according to specializations and functions. The laboratory is according to the Iraqi standards of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The workshop included many discussions regarding laboratories about the current reality and future plans.

Written by عضو ارتباطThe lecturer in our department was chosen as M.D. Saad Mahmoud Ali/ Head of the Biomechanics Branch in the scientific committees of a number of international scientific conferences, as follows:
1- Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Communication System CCICS 2023, which will be held at Central China Public University, Wuhan, China, from December 28 to 29, 2023.
2- Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference on Engineering, Technologies and Applied Sciences (IETAS). The conference will be held in September 2024 at the University of Technology in Baghdad.
3- Member of the Scientific Committee of the 37th Annual European Simulation and Modeling Conference (European Multi-Conference Simulation 2023ESM) which will be held on October 24-26, 2023, Toulouse, France.
The presidency of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University visit as part of the peer visit program to our department
Written by عضو ارتباطAs part of the peer visit program, a teaching delegation from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Nahrain University visited our department.
The delegation was headed by Dr. Anas Qusay Hashem, Head of the Department, along with a number of department heads and lectures. The delegation was received, on behalf of the Head of the Department,
by Ph.Dr. Hussein Jamil, the scientific assistant, and the heads of the branches, Ph.Dr. Saad Mahmood and Ph.Dr. Alaa Mohammad, and Ph.Dr. Ali Jalal, Director of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division
The delegation reviewed the department’s experience, especially in the field of Biomechanics, and the possibility of cooperation in opening a similar branch in their department. The two parties also discussed the possibility of exchanging experiences in the field of quality files and university performance and benefiting from the department’s experience in this field. It was also agreed to exchange visits, conduct joint research, develop and unify the curricula of the two departments, and jointly supervise graduation projects.
A Lecturer in our department obtains acceptance to publish two papers in an international conference

Prof. Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali/ Head of the Biomechanics Branch obtains accepting two papers at the International 17th Middle Eastern Simulation and Modelling Conference, which is held by Al-Farahidi, Technology, and Al-Nahrain Universities, sponsored by the European Institute EIT (MESM 2023), on September 22 and 24, 2023, and the titles of the papers are as follows:
Design and Fabrication of a Low-Cost Hand Rehabilitation Soft Robot for Paralyzed Patients, Periodica Polytechnica Mechanical Engineering, under publication.
Design and Manufacturing of a Low-Cost Nonconventional Controlling Intelligent Prosthesis, Journal of Mechanical Engineering, accepted at 15/5/2022.
Workshop entitled “Standards for Evaluating Employees Based on the Performance Evaluation Form”
Written by عضو ارتباطUnder the patronage of the honorable head of the department (Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan), the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division was established, represented by the head of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, Professor (Ph.Dr. Ali Jalal Ali) and the members (Asst.Lec. Diyar Jalal Naji) and (Asst.Lec. Mays Sabah) Workshop entitled “Standards for Evaluating Employees Based on the Performance Evaluation Form”
The workshop included a detailed explanation of all aspects of the form, the method of calculating the score, and arranging the evaluation files in preparation for the launch of the evaluation form in the coming days. The workshop included many discussions related to the questionnaire paragraphs and methods for raising the evaluation of the employees.
Elections for the teaching representatives in the Academics Syndicate and the department

Ph.Dr. Ali Jalal Ali has obtained appointed representative of the teaching staff in transparent elections in the presence of all the teaching staff in the Life Medicine Department
He thanked Dr. Ali Jalal for the teachers’ trust in him and explained his vision and projects that serve to defend the rights of the teachers and convey their voice to the union.

The workshop was attended by the scientific and administrative assistants, the heads of the branches, and the teaching staff in the department. Ph.Dr.Ali fadhel publish his research in an international journal

"The role of commercial and Islamic banks in promoting comprehensive investment in light of banking performance"
The research addressed the importance of evaluating the performance of both Islamic and conventional banks and highlighting the extent of their differences and their roles in correcting structural imbalances in economic sectors by encouraging financial investment. While both Islamic and conventional banks perform financial banking functions and activities, they differ in their nature and foundations of work. The research hypothesis suggests that Islamic and traditional banks have a role in promoting financial investment in light of the structural imbalances in the economic sectors in Iraq. The research aims to shed light on the most important indicators used in measuring and evaluating the financial performance of Islamic and conventional banks.Islamic banks are financial institutions that do not deal in interest (usury) and instead receive deposits from individuals and companies without charging interest. They invest this money directly or provide it to investors on a profit and loss sharing basis, rather than on an interest-based lending basis. One of the most important conclusions reached by the research is that commercial banks are considered one of the most important financial institutions that contribute to the management of economic and social life. Islamic banks have emerged as a type of these banks that play a clear and real role in an economic function in accordance with Islamic law.
