Under the auspices of Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan, Head of the Department and Student an activities in the Department hold for the year 2017/2018, the students organized the first festival of the department to celebrate Teacher's Day. The festival included the presence of the President of the University of Technology, Dr. Amin Dway Thamer and many of lecturer of department. the festival start with the Holy Quran and reciting Surat Al-Fatihah on the souls of the martyrs, and also the speech of the head of the educational guidance department in the department, Mr. Ali Nasser, in celebration of this day. In addition the student give an appreciation shield to the President of the University and a certificate of appreciation to the head of the department and lecturer, wishing them the best in their scientific careers.

A delegation from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Nahrain organizes a scientific visit to our department headed by the head of the Department of BIO medical Engineering department at the University of Nahrain dr. Sadiq Jafar and a number of faculty members.

A number of speakers discussed the definition of addiction, the symptoms of drug addiction, the spread of drugs among students, the risk of drugs on society and the individual, which include (health damage, social damage) and treatment of drug addiction. And the rapid spread of drugs between the youth and the different age groups despite the many damage and the lecture came out with recommendations, namely, the concentration of universities on student activities that show the danger of drugs to students, Parents' awareness and awareness of their children should be kept away from the bad friends who spread false beliefs about drugs, the necessity of activating the role of the educational guide in the universities, and finally the drug abuse is illegal and presents its owner with legal accountability.

Dr. Marwan Arbilei haven participated in 18th TMREES international conference which is one of TMREES Conference Series Over the period of February 01 to 03, 2018 in Beirut – Lebanon. Where a big group of our university researchers have been participated that make the logo of our university located on the main poster of this conference.
The research was entitled:
“Predicting of Mechanical and Wear Properties of 6026 Aluminum Alloy Waste to be Used in Prosthetic Limbs”
This paper aimed to recycle high power electrical wires that made of commercial 6026 T9 Aluminum alloys waste in prosthetics limbs manufacturing.
Where, all accepted papers in this conference will be published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP) in a Special Volume indexed in the Web of Science and Scopus. In addition to the special Volume will be published by the journal “World Review of Science Technology and Sustainable Development” WRSTSD.
