The team of the Department of Biomedical Engineering won the title of the Technological University Student Football Championship for the first time in its history after beating the team of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering with two goals against one goal in the final match, which was held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at the university stadium in the presence of Mr. President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, Mr. Assistant President for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Farhad Muhammad Osman, Member of Parliament Muhammad Al-Khatib, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Wissam Kazem Hamdan, Head of the Department of Electromechanical Engineering Prof. Ghassan Abdul Hussein Bilal and Director of the Activity Department.
The match was led by a referee team consisting of Ali Faraj, Haider Muhammad, Mortada Ali, Haider Hamid, the supervisor of the meeting, Mustafa Mahdi, and the head of the football committee, Ali Ismail.
The two teams presented a beautiful match characterized by rivalry and excitement, and the biomedical engineering team was able to end the first half in its favor with two goals without reply scored by the player Ali Jassim, and the electromechanical engineering team was able to reduce the difference in the second half by scoring the only goal through the player Ali Wathiq, and his attempts were unsuccessful to realize the equalizer to end the match with the biomedical engineering team winning the title.
The team of the Electrical Engineering Department and the Chemical Engineering Department won the third place bis, and the top scorer in the football championship was awarded to Os Ali from the Electrical Engineering Department, the best player was Haider Fouad from the Biomedical Engineering Department, and the best goalkeeper was Reda Mohammed from the Electromechanical Engineering Department, while the ideal team award was awarded to the team of the Biomedical Engineering Department and the team of the Electromechanical Engineering Department.

On Saturday, December 21, 2024, the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Technological University inspected the progress of the final exams for the first round of the academic year 2025/2024.
The Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan, conducted an inspection tour in the examination halls, and reviewed the readiness of the department to complete the exams and ascertained the nature and level of the questions through his communication with a number of students. H.E. praised the great role of the teaching staff and members of the committees supervising the exams, appreciating their continuous efforts in following up and organizing the exams to ensure that they are conducted at the highest level of efficiency. He also expressed his great appreciation for all the efforts made, wishing the dear students success and success, wishing them to achieve the highest grades and academic excellence.

Under the patronage of the esteemed Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Al-Saraji, the department organized a welcoming ceremony for the new first-stage students,

where the Administrative Assistant, Dr. Hussein Mutashar, received the new students admitted to the first stage on Wednesday, 11/12/2024, where he welcomed them and congratulated them on starting the new academic year.
During the meeting, the students were introduced to the Department of Biomedical Engineering, its objectives, learning outcomes, and the courses they will take during their academic career. The Bologna Path system and its working mechanism were also explained, with clear instructions on students' rights and duties, and the importance of commitment and discipline in accordance with the regulations and laws approved by the Ministry of Higher Education.
With sincere efforts, the staff of the department was keen to prepare all the necessary capabilities to receive the new students, to facilitate the process of starting and joining the Department of Biomedical Engineering, to ensure a successful start to their academic career.

The faculty meeting of the Department of Biomedical Engineering was held on Wednesday, 11/12/2024, under the chairmanship of the esteemed Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Hamdan, the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Janan Sattar Khashan, the administrative assistant, Dr. Hussein Mutashar, the respected branch heads, and the teaching staff of the department.
The meeting discussed emphasizing the exam instructions and achieving the quality of managing the exam process. The meeting also discussed adherence to the ministerial and university instructions related to the final exams, including the nature of the questions and the mechanism for dealing with cases of cheating when they occur. The responsibilities of the examination committees and the tasks of the officials and observers of the examination halls were clarified to ensure that the appropriate atmosphere is provided for the efficient conduct of the examination process.

Under the auspices of the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Wissam Kazem Al-Saraji, and under the supervision of the scientific assistant, Prof. Dr. Janan Sattar Khashan,

the department organized a special workshop

entitled “The Role of the Biomedical Engineer in Private Sector Companies and in the Field of Laser Devices”

in Al-Quds Hall by Engineer (Karrar Haider Shinyo). The workshop focused on the most important points that students should know in order to explore the opportunities available in the local labor market, most notably:
- Familiarize themselves with the basic requirements for obtaining job opportunities in the sales and marketing department of aesthetic medical devices.
- Recognize the technical aspects and skills needed to work in the maintenance department of aesthetic medical devices.
- Gain knowledge on how to search for job opportunities in this field, and the skills that a medical engineer must possess to pass job interviews in private sector companies.
An overview of some cosmetic devices, such as lasers used for hair removal and CO2 lasers, was also presented. The role of the medical engineer in the operation of these devices was explained, as well as how to maintain them and ensure that they work efficiently.
