Master's study in Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering aims to do its best to provide an advanced educational environment that keeps pace with the latest innovations in the field of biomedical engineering, in line with the aspirations of the Technological University and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to achieve academic excellence. After His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research approved the introduction of a master's degree in the specialty of “Biomedical Engineering” in the Department of Biomedical Engineering for the academic year 2025-2026, the necessary preparations began in the department to provide all necessary and logistical matters from receiving graduates wishing to apply for a master's degree, in accordance with the ministry's directives regarding the application for graduate studies for the academic year 2025-2026.

In this context, the first meeting of the Graduate Studies Committee at the Department of Biomedical Engineering was held on Monday, March 3, 2025, under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, the head of the committee, and the membership of an advanced group of the department's teachers. During the meeting, matters related to graduate studies affairs were discussed and mechanisms for developing the academic program were determined.

Under the patronage of the esteemed President of the Technological University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, and under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, the Studies and Planning Division organized an

Awareness workshop entitled “Family Dissolution and its Relationship to Substance Abuse”

in coordination with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit.

This workshop comes as part of a series of initiatives aimed at allocating a monthly awareness and training hour, with the aim of raising students' awareness and guidance, and contributing to creating a generation that is aware of the dangers of drugs and able to face difficult social challenges.

The workshop addressed the impact of family disintegration on the spread of drug abuse, as studies have confirmed that a disintegrated family environment is one of the main factors that push youth towards addiction. The workshop also addressed the physical and psychological risks of substance abuse, which include the negative impact on the nervous system, deterioration of mental health, loss of concentration, and behavioral disorders.

In addition, the most prominent societal challenges associated with substance abuse were reviewed, such as high crime rates, poor academic performance, and the negative impact on the national economy. Prevention mechanisms were also discussed.

The workshop was held on Thursday, 27-2-2025, at Al-Quds Hall in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, in the presence of a number of professors and students who participated in the discussion and asked questions about effective ways to curb this dangerous phenomenon.

Within the framework of enhancing scientific cooperation between Iraqi universities and educational institutions, and within the academic twinning program between private universities, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Technological University, headed by Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, received a delegation from Warith Al-Anbiya University. The delegation consisted of a number of accompanying professors and students of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, where the delegation included the following professors
- Assistant Professor Ahmad Odeh Kazim
- Assistant Professor Hassan Allawi Sabar
- Assistant Lecturer Faris Karim Haliot
- Assistant Professor Aref Samir Sayyad

The delegation was also accompanied by more than fifty students from the second stage of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the evening study program, who came to learn about the experiences and scientific practices at the Technological University.
