The Honorable Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, and Ph.D. Ali Jalal and Asst.Lect. Atheer Jamhour participated in the exhibition to support the national industry, which was held in the corridors of our university on Sunday, February 23, 2025.
This participation comes within the efforts of the university and the department to support scientific research and develop applied projects that contribute to strengthening the national industry.

During the exhibition, the graduation project “Designing and manufacturing a device for the rehabilitation of lower limbs”

was presented to students Asawer Hussein Ramadan, Hussein Tariq Faleh, and Ali Manaf Jumaa

With supervisors Dr. Ali Jalal and Ms. Atheer Jumhum, which aims to help patients who suffer from gait issues or muscle weakness as a result of injuries or surgeries.
The device works to improve patients' mobility through guided exercises that contribute to the rehabilitation of the lower limbs, enhance muscle strength, and restore balance and natural movement.
The exhibition witnessed the visit of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Minerals, Mr. Khaled Al-Battal, accompanied by the directors of the Ministry's departments, and the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghabban, and his assistants. The delegation inspected the project and praised the efforts exerted in developing innovative solutions to support the health and industrial sectors, stressing the importance of such initiatives in enhancing the integration between academic research and industrial applications.

 

On Thursday, 20-2-2025, Prof. Dr. Sadeq Hussein Bakhi, Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, met with representatives of the academic levels of the two branches: Biomechanics Branch and Medical Devices Branch. The meeting was attended by the heads of the branches: Ph. D. Saad Mahmoud Ali, head of the Biomechanics Branch, and Ph. D. Alaa Mohammed Daoud, head of the Medical Devices Branch, as well as the head of the Educational and Psychological Counseling Committee, Prof. Dr. Sabah Saad, and the head of the Psychological Counseling Unit, Assistant Director Ammar Abbas. The meeting was also attended by the teachers' representative, Dr. Ali Jalal Ali. H.E. addressed the importance of student behavior within the university environment, stressing the need to adhere to values and morals that contribute to creating a positive learning environment. He also emphasized the importance of students' regularity in attending lectures and paying attention to their subjects in order to enhance their academic level and contribute to achieving their scientific goals. The student representatives reviewed the most prominent challenges and issues facing them, in addition to a set of proposals. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi listened attentively to all observations and suggestions, stressing the department's firm commitment to providing a distinguished educational environment that supports the academic career of students and contributes to the development of their scientific potential.
This meeting comes within the framework of the department's keenness to enhance the channels of constructive communication with the students and listen to their opinions and suggestions to ensure the development of the educational process in line with their academic aspirations and future needs.

 

In a new scientific achievement added to the balance of Iraqi academic creativity, Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali, Head of the Biomechanics Branch at the Department of Biomedicine, was awarded the Creativity and Excellence Shield, in honor of his prominent role in the second medical patents exhibition, held by the Iraqi Ministry of Health and the International Union of Innovators in Iraq, in cooperation with the Department of Women Affairs and Human Rights, with the participation of the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control.

This honor was bestowed by the Honorable Minister of Health in recognition of Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali's efforts and active contributions by presenting a number of scientific achievements and medical patents, which aim to promote development in the health field and provide innovative solutions that contribute to improving medical services.

The exhibition was held under the slogan “Today's Innovation... Tomorrow's Treatment”, and witnessed the participation of a group of Iraqi researchers and innovators who showcased their latest innovations in the field of medicine and health. Dr. Saad Mahmoud Ali's participation was characterized by advanced scientific solutions that would bring about a qualitative leap in the medical field, making him deserving of this prestigious honor.

It is noteworthy that this exhibition, which was held on Monday, 17-2-2025, is an important scientific platform to support and encourage researchers and inventors in the health field, and promote cooperation between academic and health institutions in order to develop modern technologies that contribute to improving the quality of health care in Iraq.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, the university stadium witnessed a football championship match between the team of teachers in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the team of research centers at the Technological University, which ended with a 2-0 victory for the teachers.

The match came as part of the sports activities organized by the department to promote social interaction and sportsmanship among academic and research staff. The match was attended by the Head of the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, who praised the outstanding level presented by the two teams, stressing the importance of such events in creating a recreational environment that contributes to strengthening relations between colleagues outside the framework of academic work.

The match was characterized by a strong performance by the teaching team, where the players showed high skills and clear harmony, which enabled them to achieve the deserved victory. This meeting contributed to strengthening the team spirit among faculty members and researchers, amid a friendly atmosphere that reflects the importance of sports activities in the academic work environment.

It is worth mentioning that the Department of Biomedical Engineering continuously seeks to organize various sports and entertainment events aimed at supporting physical activity and enhancing team spirit among the academic and research staff members.

 

 

On February 17, 2025, the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi, received a delegation from the Human Rights Commission, which included Prof. Dr. Ahmed Thabet Abdulkarim and legal advisor Mohammed Qasim Rashid. This meeting comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the two sides in the fields of training and development, which contributes to spreading the culture of human rights and enhancing community awareness in academic and administrative institutions.

During the meeting, the prospects of joint cooperation were discussed, including ways to organize specialized training workshops targeting professors and employees from various academic and administrative disciplines, with the aim of enhancing knowledge of human rights values and ways to apply them in daily life. The meeting also discussed the establishment of workshops and qualification programs aimed at training employees on the concepts of justice and equality, in addition to enhancing the ability to deal with human rights issues in a professional and objective manner.

In this context, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Hussein Bakhi stressed the importance of this cooperation in consolidating the culture of human rights within academic institutions, pointing to the need to promote this culture through various training programs that reach all categories of university staff. He praised the role of the OHCHR in spreading community awareness and providing effective support for the implementation of human rights principles, expressing his aspiration to expand the scope of cooperation between the two sides in the future.

For their part, members of the OHCHR delegation expressed their full readiness to provide the necessary support for the success of this initiative, by providing the necessary expertise and resources to implement joint training programs, in addition to facilitating the establishment of specialized courses that meet the needs of all categories of beneficiaries. They also pointed out the importance of sustainable cooperation between academic institutions and the OHCHR in preparing awareness programs aimed at improving society's understanding of human rights.

This initiative comes within the framework of the department's continuous efforts to keep pace with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University Presidency, and to apply strategies that contribute to consolidating sustainable partnerships with relevant institutions. These steps are also part of the department's vision to enhance awareness of human rights issues, in order to achieve the common goals of building an academic and administrative community with a deep understanding of its rights and duties, which contributes to creating a more interactive and cooperative academic and administrative environment in facing contemporary challenges related to human rights and their protection, thus building a society that is more aware and appreciative of its own rights and the rights of others.
